Today, I decided to bring back one of the earlier episodes of the Content Marketing School podcast, where I share several strategies to help you create content more consistently, including using day of the week themes.

Today, I want to talk to you about content creation. Now, the two things that people tell me they struggle with most are, number one, coming up with content ideas, and number two, being comfortable on camera. When I say one and two, I'm not saying one is more difficult than the other, but those are the two things that I hear about most. Today, I'm going to share nine content ideas that you can easily to your business. To make sure that you will [00:01:33.400] be able to do that, I'm going to give you a few variations on each idea. Now, if you are just starting or in the early days of engaging on LinkedIn, it's important to set a plan or schedule that you can maintain. If it's only once or twice a week, that's fine. It's better to maintain than to start posting five days a week and then nothing. It's like going to the gym a couple of times a year at the beginning of the year, right before [00:02:03.640] summer. The gyms are packed with people absolutely committed to losing weight, getting healthy, and they join the gym, and they are going to be at that gym, in their mind, five days a week, and that lasts for maybe four to six weeks, and then nothing.

They likely just never even go back. So you don't want to be like that when it comes to posting your content on LinkedIn or any social media app. You want to be consistent. If three days a week is what you can manage, what you can sustain, then do that and build upon that when you feel more comfortable. For my example today, let's say you are going to post three days a week on LinkedIn, Monday, Wednesday, [00:02:53.840] and Friday. I'm going to share some ideas and then how you can use them to make creating content simple. I didn't say easy because creating content does take time, but it's a simple, easy to follow plan. Let's start with day of the week themes. There are a number of different themes for each day of the week, so let's go through them from Monday through Sunday. I'll give you a few variations for [00:03:24.270] each day so it will be easy for you to adapt them to your business. Let's start with Monday. Now, Monday, you can do Motivational Monday or Mindful Monday or Marketing Monday. If you are a coach and you want to inspire your potential clients, you might go with Motivational.

If you're in health services, you might want to go with a Mindful Monday, and that will give you something to post each Monday. Then there's Tuesday. Now, I often hear tips Tuesday, which is Very generic. It can be adapted to any business. But you can also do Transformation Tuesday. Again, if you are a coach or consultant, maybe you can talk about things that will help your potential clients transform. Or you might want to go with Tech Tuesday, where [00:04:16.240] you talk about a platform that saves time or money. Now, when it comes to Wednesday, I have two for you, Wisdom Wednesday and Wellness Wednesday. Obviously, Wisdom Wednesday is bits wisdom from you. Now, that might be techniques your potential clients can use. It might be an article on psychology that you share and give your thoughts on. If you're in the health or fitness industry, then Wellness Wednesday might be [00:04:46.470] for you. Wellness Wednesday might work if your target audience is business owners and you want to share tips on how having a healthy lifestyle can help them be more successful in business. Now, when it comes to Thursday, Today, of course, we all know throwback Thursday, which can be fun or it can be something educational.

But I have two more for you, thoughtful Thursday or thankful Thursday. So thankful, we have a lot of people talking about gratitude on LinkedIn, on a lot of social media platforms. So maybe you can talk about being thankful for something. It might be being thankful for people who have helped you, and you can call them out. Okay, on to Friday. Now, Friday, you can have flashback Friday, something that you remember that taught you a lesson. Or, of [00:05:36.640] course, there's always Fun Friday, which is obviously fun, or Fitness Friday. Again, if you're in the health industry or just want to talk about health and fitness being an important part of everyone's life, you can use that. If you want to make your post more personal, you might want to talk about your fitness journey, whether that's losing weight or adopting a healthier lifestyle. That's also something, a topic you can use for a series [00:06:07.440] that I'm going to talk about later. Now, Saturday, you can do a shout out Saturday. Great for shouting out people that have helped you. You might want to shout out books that have helped you or podcasts that you listen to that inspire and or educate you.

Or you might want to go with Style Saturday. Now, style can mean a lot of different things. It might be personal style, what you wear, things that might give you more confidence. It also could be your style of communication. You can talk about things like that. Then, of course, there's Sunday. I'm sure you've heard of Fun Sunday, but you can also have Spotlight Sunday, another one of those days where you can spotlight books that have helped you, people that have helped you, a variety [00:06:52.760] of things. The purpose of using day of the week themes is that it can help with your planning. It can give your You're content planning some structure. If you decide you're going to do marketing Monday, you know every Monday you are going to give a marketing tip and so on. Now, you might want to also create your own business theme. You might Create one day a week or one day every other week and call it business beat, where you're talking about industry news, things [00:07:23.300] that might be of interest to your target audience. Or you might go with something more generic like success a success step. If every Wednesday you are going to share a success step, it might be techniques your potential clients can use to reach their goals, or it might be some tools they can use to save time or save money or both.

The last thing that I want to talk about today is creating a series. Now, a series is another way to give your content a framework to work within. It's a good way to share small pieces of content over a number of days or a number of weeks. You might do seven days of tech tips, or 14 days to a healthier body, or 30 days to write your book. The end of last year, I did 12 days of [00:08:15.700] content creation tips for the 12 days leading up to Christmas, and it was well received. I had some people comment and tell me that they waited for the tip to come out every single day. Those are things that you can repurpose. If you do videos like that, then you can compile them together into one long video and use that as a podcast episode or just a video that you share. Okay, so let's go with your content calendar. Let's say that you work in content [00:08:46.380] marketing like me. We've already said you are going to be posting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Monday, you'll go with Marketing Monday, and each Monday, you will share a tip on marketing It might be an article on marketing.

It might be a technique. It might be talking about content strategies. Wednesday, you're going to go with business beat, and your post will be about industry trends. Maybe you'll share an article on AI and share your thoughts about it. You might want to share breaking news in your industry, or maybe a few business books that have helped you grow your business. When it comes to Friday, you might choose Fun Friday and share a funny video. Maybe you'll It's something related to your business. It might [00:09:32.020] be you doing a video with some humor. For me, it might be a video of our dogs. You can see how this goes. Now, again, going back to the calendar, creating a calendar that runs 45 or 60 days out takes time. But the time that you spend putting it together will save you time creating content because you already know what the focus will be for the days that you're going to post. You will have a framework that you can just plug the content into. [00:10:02.640] Now, once you get more practice, you might have a monthly calendar on a whiteboard like I do. Whatever your plan is, using one or more themes can really make planning and creating content a lot easier.

When content planning and creation is simpler, it makes it easier to be consistent with your posting. You're not that person who starts posting with great intentions five days a week for three or four weeks and then nothing. Try using themes in your content mix. I think you will find that it helps to provide structure and makes planning and creating content much easier.
